The four days of heavy rain and severe storms that hit the Hudson Valley this past weekend have caused a stretch of the Palisades Interstate Parkway to close due to flooding and debris on the roadway. Perkins Memorial Drive to the Bear Mountain Bridge remains closed in both directions currently as repairs are underway.  All traffic is being re-routed through Bear Mountain State Park to Route 9W to reconnect to the traffic circle and the bridge.

New York State Parks officials confirmed that serious damage occurred from the rainstorms, forcing the road closures. One PIP Officer stated the road is washed out. There is no current timetable for the repairs to be completed, and the road will be closed indefinitely.

Drivers are being urged to allow extra travel time as crews work to remove debris and repair storm damage.

Bear Mountain State Park has begun returning to normal operations, after being closed from July 5^th through July 6^th due to damage to its water system from the storms. Facilities are limited, as the New York State Parks Department announced the main park area will be open. The pool and the Trailside Museum & Zoo will be closed until further notice.
