47th Annual CIC Golf Classic Draws More Than 400 Guests
SCARBOROUGH, NY – Once again, the legendary Sleepy Hollow Country Club played host to one of the most anticipated events of the year for the contracting community. Under clear blue skies and comfortable temperatures, golfers gathered for the 47th Annual CIC Golf Classic on July 13, bringing together contractors, union leaders, labor organizations, suppliers and public officials for a day of networking, friendly competition and celebration.
Joining the contractors, suppliers and union leaders were: New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins; Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins; Deputy Westchester County Executive Joan McDonald; Westchester County Commissioner of Transportation and Public Works Hugh Greechan, P.E.; State Senators Pete Harckham and Robert Rolison; State Assembly Members Chris Burdick, Jonathan Jacobson, Dana Levenberg and MaryJane Shimsky; and Village of Briarcliff Manor Mayor Steve Vescio.
Continuing the successful format introduced last year, the outing featured morning and afternoon shotgun starts, with 200 golfers enjoying the championship course and its scenic Hudson River views. Hole 16 proved to be a favorite photo opportunity for many foursomes, although golfers agreed the picturesque hole was more challenging than it appeared.
While the afternoon golfers were on the course, the popular Louis G. Nappi Bocce Tournament once again drew enthusiastic participants and spectators. Following the day’s competitions, golfers and guests gathered on the terrace overlooking the Hudson River for a cocktail reception before moving to the banquet tent, where 408 attendees enjoyed dinner and remarks from CIC Executive Director John Cooney Jr.
During his presentation, Mr. Cooney highlighted the organization’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the construction industry through apprenticeships, mentorship and workforce development initiatives that continue to build careers and support the region’s future.
The evening concluded with the presentation of golf and bocce awards, followed by a raffle that generated plenty of excitement among attendees.
