Westchester DPW to Let Major Projects
At Playland Rink, Valhalla Parking Facility
WHITE PLAINS, NY—The Westchester County Department of Public Works has scheduled a number of significant construction project lettings this month—the largest being the rehabilitation of the famed Ice Casino at Rye Playland.
The project is scheduled to be let on Wed., April 8, and according to the advertisement posted by the DPW on its WestWorks newsletter on March 30, the bid estimate range is between $44 million to $50 million. The work under the contract consists of all labor, material and equipment required for the complete rehabilitation of the Playland Ice Casino. Site work includes a re-built maintenance yard and landscaping. An exterior addition to the building will be built at the existing service yard to house electrical generators and chillers.
Exterior renovations include a new marquee, façade repairs, new windows and doors and roof replacement. Interior work includes all new finishes and lighting at all spaces. Ice rinks and all associated cooling equipment are being replaced and upgraded. The project includes new upgraded mechanical, plumbing and electrical equipment, information technology, security systems and associated work. A mandatory pre-bid inspection was held on March 16. Contractors were directed to the Special Notice regarding a Project Labor Agreement by the county.
Two notable projects are slated to be let later this month. On April 15, bids will be received for a new snow equipment storage building at Westchester County Airport. The bid estimate range for this project between $6 million to $6.5 million.
A bid letting is scheduled for Wed., April 22, for the parking structure infrastructure improvements contract at the Norwood E. Jackson Correctional Center at the Grasslands Campus in Valhalla, NY. The bid estimate range on that project is between $13 million and $14 million.
There are two road and bridge projects to be let this month. The first involves the rehabilitation of the Westchester Avenue East Bridge over the Mamaroneck River in White Plains, which is scheduled for an April 8 letting. The bid estimate range on this project falls between $2.5 million to $3 million.
On Wed., April 29, the Westchester DPW is receiving bids for a contract to rehabilitate two Ardsley Road bridges over the Bronx River and Bronx River Parkway in the Town of Greenburgh and Village of Scarsdale. The bid estimate rang on this project is from $4 million to $4.5 million.
