Mid-Hudson Region Awarded
$6 Million in Infrastructure Grants
ALBANY—New York State officials announced on Aug. 20 that more than $38 million was awarded to 49 projects across New York State through the County Infrastructure Grant Program. First launched in November 2024 and administered by Empire State Development, the program provides grants to support small- and medium-sized county-led infrastructure projects. To date, more than $74 million has been awarded to nearly 100 projects throughout the state.
In the latest round of funding, the state awarded the Mid-Hudson region a total of $6 million for seven projects, including $500,000 each for Dutchess County and Orange County. The Dutchess County Water and Wastewater Authority will use program funding to construct a new water storage tank along the Central Dutchess Water Transmission Line. Orange County will utilize the funds for infrastructure upgrades at the Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center.
The $1-million grant award winners were:
Putnam County-Town of Carmel – funding for this project will be used to construct critical roadways and stormwater infrastructure to directly support the development of 40 market-rate townhomes.
Rockland County, Village of Haverstraw – funding will support critical sewer infrastructure upgrades necessary to advance the Haverstraw Chair Factory Redevelopment Project along the Hudson River waterfront.
Sullivan County, Town of Liberty – This project involves necessary infrastructure improvements required to connect a proposed housing development site to existing municipal wastewater collection lines along Sunset Lake Road. Approximately 1,300 feet of eight-inch sewer main will be constructed. The related sewage pump station will be upgraded and expanded to accommodate up to 150,000 gallons per day.
Ulster County, Hamlet of Pine Hill and Town of New Paltz – Program funding will be used to coordinate two projects in the county. In Pine Hill, $502,000 in funding will be used to design and construct stormwater conveyance improvements along lower Main Street, including approximately 500 feet of piping, new drop inlets, and roadway restoration. These improvements will address chronic flooding, failing drainage infrastructure, and Department of Environmental Conservation concerns, and support the redevelopment of the site into 10 workforce housing units with a community grocery component. In New Paltz, $498,000 in funding will support a defined phase of the rehabilitation of the Ulster County Pool Complex project.
Westchester County, Village of Croton-on-Hudson – Funding will be used to support on-site sewer improvements, including a new sewer force main. These enhancements will allow for the construction of a five-story, 100-unit condominium building. This transit-oriented development consisting of mixed-use or multifamily residential buildings, is located within 500 yards of the Metro-North Croton Harmon Train Station.
