MGM Empire City Community Advisory Panel
To Hold First Public Meeting Tomorrow, 7/24
YONKERS, NY—The MGM Empire City Community Advisory Committee will hold its first organizational meeting on Thurs., July 24 at the Yonkers Riverfront Library here.
The committee’s first session will not include public comment, but will likely have a vote on a committee chair and a discussion of the committee’s tasks, schedule and procedural timeline. MGM Empire City has filed an application with the New York State Gaming Commission for one of three downstate full gaming licenses. Seven other applicants are vying for the license, although the contest may be down by one now that Bally’s Bronx Casino’s necessary zoning changes were recently rejected by the New York City Council.
The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. and will be webcast. The link will be made available ahead of time at the MGM Empire City Community Advisory Committee website (https://nycasinos.ny.gov/mgm-empire-city-community-advisory-committee).
The MGM Empire City Community Advisory Committee will soon hold public hearings to hear and receive comments regarding the project. Details will be announced once they are finalized. Members of the public are encouraged to submit written comments to the Community Advisory Committee regarding MGM Empire City via email: MGMEmpireCityPublicComment@nystec.com or standard mail: MGM Empire City Community Advisory Committee c/o NYSTEC, Attn: CAC Consultant Team, 540 Broadway, 3rd Floor, Albany, NY 12207.
All comments received regarding MGM Empire City will be reviewed by the committee. While there is no deadline for submitting comments, please note that Community Advisory Committees must complete their work by Sept. 30, 2025.
