MOUNT VERNON — The Construction Industry Council of Westchester and the Hudson Valley (CIC) proudly sponsored Union & Construction Workers Night at The Stadium at Memorial Field in Mt. Vernon, NY, on Saturday, Aug. 29. Close to 2,000 people were in attendance on a beautiful Saturday night to watch the home team, Westchester SC, face off against Spokane Velocity FC in a United Soccer League One matchup.
The CIC was happy to welcome members and families from Soulful Synergy LLC, Children’s Village, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Westchester, United Way, Mount Vernon Boys & Girls Club and J&E Loading LLC to the game.
The night itself could not have been more ideal, as the weather gave fans one last perfect summer weekend. At halftime of the game, CIC staff and members from Soulful Synergy LLC were welcomed onto the field for recognition. A statement from the CIC was read aloud, explaining its mission to be the voice of the construction industry in the Hudson Valley, as well as thanking all of its members who are involved in highly skilled union trades, such as electrical work, ironwork, roofing, boilermaking, plumbing, carpentry, bricklaying, operating heavy machinery and sheet metal work.
Afterward, Westchester SC expressed its gratitude for the hard work that the many men and women in construction and the trades do for the community, as well as to the CIC for its contributions to the evening.
Fans enjoyed the amenities and modernized seating at the stadium, which completed renovations in 2022, during the game. On display from the grandstands were the eight-lane track, scenic rock wall and high definition scoreboard, which displayed the CIC logo throughout the night. The CIC had a table set up at the entrance of the stadium to educate guests about the work it does and help familiarize prospective future laborers with information about the benefits of working in the trades. Many children also enjoyed giveaways from the CIC and Westchester SC, which had a table set up to help guide guests through the stadium.
“We had a fun time! The energy in the stadium was awesome, and it was a great way for our graduates to connect in a different setting. Big thanks to CIC for putting it all together!” said Dwayne Norris, co-founder and COO of Soulful Synergy.
Unfortunately, while everyone was having a great time watching the game and enjoying the atmosphere, the night ended with a 3 to 1 loss by Westchester SC.
