H.V. Construction Career Events Staged in Rockland March 27-28
Hands-on Demonstrations
SUFFERN, NY—High school students from across the Hudson Valley will meet with union building trade experts—as part of an introduction to skills-building and technical training needed for union careers—at the 24th Annual Hudson Valley Construction Career Day scheduled this week. The career exposition will be staged at the Rockland Community College Fieldhouse on Thursday evening, March 27 for parents and kids, and on Friday, March 28 for schools bringing their students.
Over 700 students will explore diverse careers in the construction and the building trades and learn about the financial and educational advantages of apprenticeship training. Representatives from the unions and private-sector companies will engage the students in demonstrations such as welding, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, sheet metal fabrication, commercial driving, masonry, soldering and more.
Hosted by the Construction Industry Council of Westchester & Hudson Valley, Inc. (CIC) and the Building Contractors Association of Westchester & Mid-Hudson, Inc. (BCA), Construction Career Day on Thursday runs from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm and on Friday from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm.
