New $75 Million Career/Tech Center In Newburgh Proceeds with PLA Pact

NEWBURGH, NY—New York State and City of Newburgh officials joined building trades executives and leaders of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District last month to break ground on the $75-million new Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center.

The project is being built under a Project Labor Agreement with general contractor Pike Construction Services, according to L. Todd Diorio, president of the Hudson Valley Building & Construction Trades Council, which is based in Newburgh.

The development team also includes CSArch and Jacobs Project Managers Co. When completed, the new building will host more than 20 Career and Technical Education programs immediately adjacent to the district’s main high school building, preparing scholars for college and careers.

The project is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2026 with gross square footage of 132,424 square feet and will provide hundreds of union trade jobs throughout the project.

The center is an integral part of the Capital Bond Project that received supermajority support from voters of the school district in May 2019.

School district officials stated that the CTE building will serve as a “hub for students, educators, families and our community, fostering a strong sense of collaboration and unity as we strive for quality education and endless possibilities for career preparation. Not only will this building provide hundreds of union trade job opportunities for our community right now, but it will also prepare the district’s scholars for lifelong opportunities once they graduate.”
