Bridge Authority Hosts M/WBE & SDVOB Meet & Greet

NEWBURGH, NY– The New York State Bridge Authority held its first-ever M/WBE & SDVOB Meet & Greet event on March 28 at the Newburgh campus of SUNY Orange. More than 150 attendees were able to connect with NYSBA and other state agencies, as well as network with prime contractors and consultants.

In an effort to build upon New York State’s commitment to the utilization of Minority/Women- Owned Business Enterprises (M/WBEs) and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses (SDVOBs), NYSBA hosted the Meet & Greet to forge connections and encourage further participation of these companies in state contracts. Attendees were able to learn about upcoming contracting opportunities with NYSBA and other entities, as well as gain more info about the certification process for M/WBEs and SDVOBs.

The New York State Bridge Authority operates the Bear Mountain, Newburgh-Beacon, Mid-Hudson, Kingston-Rhinecliff and Rip Van Winkle Bridges. It also owns and maintains the structure of the Walkway Over the Hudson pedestrian bridge. The authority receives no operating funding through state or federal tax dollars, with nearly all of its revenue coming through tolls. Tolls are reinvested back into capital improvements on the authority’s spans, ensuring these critical pieces of infrastructure can continue serving the Hudson Valley for decades to come.
