NYSDOT Region 8 Lists Upcoming Lettings For Road/Bridge Projects in 2025 thru Q4

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY—Since the start of 2025, the regional office of the New York State Department of Transportation has let nearly $100 million of road and bridge work on two projects in Orange County.

At the request of CONSTRUCTION NEWS, the Region 8 office has released a detailed list of upcoming projects it expects to let in the second half of 2025.

In March, ECCO III Enterprises Inc. of Yonkers began work on a $68.7-million project involving the final phase of improvements to be made to Exit 122 on Route 17 in Orange County. Earlier this month, New York State officials announced that Argenio Brothers of New Windsor, NY had begun work on a more than $30-million project to construct a roundabout, replace multiple culverts and resurface State Routes 17A and 94 in the towns of Warwick and Goshen and the villages of Warwick, Florida and Goshen in Orange County.

The New York State Department of Transportation in the Hudson Valley anticipates letting the following projects in the second half of 2025.

881559 Crack Sealing & Mastic Regionwide  – this project consists of cleaning and sealing pavement cracks on various state highways using mastic or crack sealing treatments. This work will preserve the integrity of the pavement by preventing water infiltration that could lead to asphalt aggregate binding degradation. In addition to preserving the pavement surface, mastic treatments may also have corrective properties that improve pavement rideability. The work will be done on state routes in various municipalities in the counties of Columbia, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster and Westchester. Estimated project cost is $1.5 million.

881550 Traffic Signals: Transfer Switches with ROW – this project will install traffic signal electrical disconnect and generator transfer switches, and necessary electrical components at various signalized intersections throughout the Hudson Valley Region in Columbia, Dutchess, Orange, Rockland, Ulster, and Westchester counties. Estimated project cost: is $1.05 million.

ECCO III Enterprises of Yonkers recently began work on the final phase of improvements to Exit 122 on Route 17 in Orange County. This project is the precursor to the $1-billion Route 17 expansion project currently under review by NYSDOT.

881653 Hazardous Tree Removal Contract TSP—Dutchess and Putnam – this project will provide a contract for hazardous tree removal that is outside of NYSDOT’s maintenance group’s ability. The work will take place in various municipalities along the Taconic State Parkway from the Westchester/Putnam County line to the Interstate 84 interchange in the counties of Dutchess and Putnam. Estimated project cost is $1.5 million.

881562 Highway Where & When – this project will consist of taking immediate action to repair and prevent future degradation of portions of state highways in the event of an emergency. The work will encompass various municipalities in the counties of Columbia, Dutchess, Ulster, Rockland, Orange, Putnam and Westchester. Estimated project cost is $6 million.

881625 Signal Optimization: Dutchess, Orange and Ulster – this project will install new wireless sensors that will enable remote signal phase retiming for current and future traffic volumes remotely for signal systems in Dutchess, Orange and Ulster counties. This retiming effort will reduce delays and improve air quality. Estimated project cost is $1 million.

80PSO6 Region 8 Pedestrian Safety Action Plan Contract #6 – this project will address pedestrian safety concerns by replacing or updating pedestrian and traffic signals, installing crosswalks and curb ramps where needed. This work will take place at selected federal aid eligible locations in various municipalities in Westchester County. Estimated project cost is $5.5 million.

813132 Route 22 at Edgewood Road Intersection Signalization – this project will signalize the intersection of Route 22 at Edgewood Road in the Town and Village of Scarsdale, Westchester County. The project will also include pedestrian facility improvements such as upgrading curb ramps to Americans with Disability Act standards where required, sidewalk reconstruction and pedestrian asphalt trail reconstruction. Estimated project cost is $500,000.

80PS08 Region 8 Pedestrian Safety Action Plan: Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Ulster – this project will address pedestrian safety concerns by replacing or updating pedestrian and traffic signals, installing crosswalks and curb ramps where needed. This work will take place at selected federal aid eligible locations in various municipalities in Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Ulster counties. Estimated project cost is $3.5 million.

806515 Route 17 Over Route 17K Bridge Replacement – this project will replace the structure that carries Route 17 over Route 17K in the Town of Wallkill in Orange County. Work will also include lowering the elevation of Route 17K under the structure to improve vertical clearance. Estimated project cost is $25 million.

881527 Signal Improvements: Rockland and Westchester – this project will consist of replacing traffic control devices at several intersections in the Town of Orangetown in Rockland County and the Towns of Greenburgh, Mount Kisco, North Castle, and Villages of Elmsford, Mount Kisco and Nyack in Westchester County. The work will include, but won’t be limited to, replacing signals, improving signage, replacing embedded poles, and adding pedestrian signals and crosswalks where needed. Estimated project cost is $5.5 million.

8LC121 Culvert Rehab/Replacement: Dutchess, Orange & Ulster Counties – this project will rehabilitate, replace, or partially replace seven culverts in Dutchess, Orange, and Ulster counties. The rehabilitations will occur on the two culverts that carry NY Route 52 over Twin Ponds and an Unknown Stream, NY Route 213 over an Unknown Stream, and NY Route 44 over an Unknown Stream. The replacements will occur on the culverts carrying Route 218 over Unknown Stream and Crows Nest Brook, and a partial replacement will occur on the culvert carrying Route 218 over The Clove in the Towns of Cornwall, Esopus, Highlands, Montgomery and Washington. Estimated project cost is $1.5 million.

881494 Culvert Relining on Interstate 84: Orange County – this project will re-line eight culverts to address deficiencies on selected segments of Interstate 84 in the Towns of Greenville, Montgomery, and Newburgh in Orange County. Estimated project cost is $2.1 million.

881593 Bridge Washing/Deck Sealing – this project is part of the regional annual bridge washing/deck sealing program which requires that each structure be cleaned, and concrete bridge decks be sealed periodically. This project will consist of cleaning/washing bridges and sealing decks as needed to remove debris and protect against corrosive substances. The work will take place in various municipalities throughout Columbia, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster and Westchester counties. Estimated project cost is $2.5 million.

881577 Biennial Special Markings: Regionwide – this project will consist of applying epoxy and preformed pavement markings on state highways. This work will improve traffic safety by ensuring that the markings maintain their proper delineation and reflectivity properties. This work will take place in various municipalities in the counties of Columbia, Dutchess, Ulster, Rockland, Orange, Putnam and Westchester. Estimated project cost is $5 million.

881579 Biennial Long Lines: Regionwide – this project will remark and reapply long line pavement markings to maintain their intended reflective properties and delineation. This work involves various municipalities in the counties of Columbia, Dutchess, Ulster, Rockland, Orange, Putnam and Westchester. Estimated project cost is $10 million.

881596 Bridge Painting — Columbia, Orange & Putnam – this project will consist of painting steel surfaces on bridges to protect against normal environmental effects of corrosion, acid rain, and deicing agents. The work will occur in the Towns of Chatham, Wawayanda, Montgomery and Patterson in the counties of Columbia, Orange, and Putnam. Estimated project cost is $5 million.
