Students Share $25,000 in CAI College Grants

TARRYTOWN, NY – The Construction Advancement Institute (CAI) recently awarded five scholarships to college-bound students who are pursuing science, technology, engineering and mathematics this fall.
On July 8, The CAI Scholarship Committee presented the college scholarships at an awards luncheon in Westchester. Each student received a $5,000 grant toward the 2014-15 academic year.
The CAI, in affiliation witht he Building Contractors Association of Westchester & Mid-Hudson Region, Inc., developed this program to encourage students to continue their education in STEM subject areas with a goal to stimulate and bolster study in hard sciences.
Scholarship Winners
Joao Anjo of Ossining, NY will be attending The City College of New York in Manhattan. Mr. Anjo plans to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Ryan Bissett of Pawling, NY attends Iowa State University in Ames, IA. Mr. Bissett is pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering.
Matthew Carducci of Harrison, NY attends Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. Mr. Carducci is continuing to pursue his degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Haley Cooke of Mahopac, NY attends Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY. Ms. Cooke is pursuing a degree in Bioengineering and Neuroscience.
Ryan Neumann of New Fairfield, CT attends Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY. Mr. Neumann is continuing to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering.
Students of parents who are employees of companies that contribute to the Construction Industry Advancement program of Westchester and the Mid-Hudson region or children of union members that participate in the Industry Advancement Program are eligible for scholarship consideration. These union locals are Carpenters Local No. 279, Operating Engineers Local No. 137, Laborers Local No. 235 and Bricklayers Local No. 5.
